Holley & Pearson-Farrer would like to congratulate our client, two-time Grammy-winning musician, activist and humanitarian Che “Rhymefest” Smith, on his groundbreaking new project James & Nikki: A Conversation, which reimagines the historic 1971 televised discussion between literary icons Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin.
Inspired by Giovanni and Baldwin’s insightful intergenerational discourse, Che’s composition reflects the themes raised by their dialogue and powerfully reasserts them for today’s audience, while simultaneously celebrating black women creators and sparking meaningful dialogue on relationships, culture, music, social issues and politics.
H|PF represented Che in negotiations with WNET Media Group for licensing of the audio and video footage that serves as the basis for the recording and with Golden State Entertainment, an affiliate of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, for distribution of James & Nikki.
